Clinical Negligence: Mainly Claimant

The clinical negligence lawyers at Trethowans are a well-regarded specialists. We have three partners ranked in Chambers: Clare Carter, Chris Whiteley and Gavin Lane. Clare and Chris are Law Society clinical negligence panel members. Clare Carter is also an AVMA panel member. In addition, we are on the approved solicitors list for Headway and one of two preferred solicitors for the Spinal Injuries Association South West region. James Braund is leading a major expansion of high value clinical negligence work in the Dorset area. Fran Gillett is doing the same in the Wiltshire and Somerset areas.

We act in a variety of clinical negligence cases against NHS Trusts, hospitals (NHS and private), consultants, GPs and dentists across the country. Cases include cerebral palsy, birth injury, misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis (e.g. cancer), negligently performed surgery and negligently treated medical conditions.

Much of our work is in complex claims where injuries caused by negligent medical treatment have had extremely serious consequences to our clients and their families. We undertake work ranging from cases worth several million pounds, through to thousands of pounds. Due to our technical expertise and long-standing experience, we are able to undertake those high value complex cases involving cerebral palsy, brain damage, cancer, and spinal injury where the issues of breach of duty, causation and quantum are difficult. We regularly recover seven figure damages for injured clients.
