About
Provided by Taft
The Taft team represents a broad range of energy providers, public utilities, transmission-only utilities, independent power producers, developers, regional entities, and other utility-sector participants. Our attorneys represent clients in contested case proceedings before state and federal administrative agencies, in energy regulatory litigation and appeals, and in energy transactions. We help our clients in the traditional and renewable power industries navigate a host of challenges in complying with ever-changing regulatory requirements; obtaining regulatory approval for rate increases, riders, major infrastructure projects, and resource plans; undertaking complex transactions and financings; and pursuing and defending litigation.
Our expertise includes multi-party, complex energy infrastructure development, including power plant siting and development; wind and solar siting and development; and high voltage transmission siting and development. Our attorneys have extensive scientific and technical knowledge about how electric utility power generation (including wind, solar, biomass, coal, and gas facilities) and electric and natural gas transmission and distribution facilities operate. Our team has experience with a broad range of electric generation, transmission, and distribution projects and disputes, including acquisitions, build/own turnkey facility purchases, power purchases, and construction related to both dispatchable and renewable energy and capacity.
