Our Employment Team has significant experience in advising clients in the third sector. For education, we regularly advise MATs, SATs, non-maintained special schools, FE providers and colleges, and independent schools. For charity, we advise clients across the charity sector including social enterprises.
Our advice includes:
- Advising on disciplinary and grievance matters, with members of our HR consultancy able to support with these internal processes as well as undertaking investigations;
- We have particular expertise in dealing with current and historic safeguarding matters, including liaising with the LADO, external agencies including the police, and reporting to regulators including the TRA, DBS and the Charity Commission
- Advising operational teams, trustees and governors on organisational change, including reorganisation, changing terms and conditions, and redundancy.
- Mergers and Acquisitions, including academy conversion and CIO conversion, with associated due diligence and TUPE advice.
- Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal litigation, with particular expertise in discrimination and whistleblowing claims.
Working nationally, we provide pragmatic advice, taking account of legal risk, the practical realities of being a third sector employer, and the importance of reputational management.
