The International Trade department focuses on advising clients on inbound and outbound customs matters and assisting them to identify and develop expansion opportunities.

The team specializes in customs valuation, implementation of free trade agreements, origin verifications, criteria confirmations before tax and customs authorities and the development of foreign trade programs such as the “Maquila” Drawback and Sector Promotion.

It includes development and implementation of strategies to optimize all tools available, dispute resolution tactics and litigations.

The team has thorough experience in the selection, coordination and implementation of the best optimized corporate, tax and customs strategies in Mexico, tailored to the client’s needs; the performance of audits to examine the accuracy of import/export operations; the implementation of preventive measures; and the representation of clients before tax and customs authorities during audits, administrative procedures and to defend tax contingencies.

Additionally, the team focuses not only on the compliance of customs and foreign trade obligations, but also on facilitating, the implementation of administrative instruments of Mexican authorities, to develop areas with opportunities of expansion for the clients.

The International Trade practice also includes antidumping, safeguards and subsidies investigations, optimizing customs structures, audits, negotiations and in challenging rulings from tax and customs authorities.
