SGR’s Georgia Environmental and Sustainability Practice attorneys have backgrounds in engineering, science and environmental issues. They routinely lecture on environmental issues and have been active in shaping environmental laws and policies through the American Bar Association and other organizations. With broad experience including permitting and approvals, enforcement, and litigation, SGR lawyers handle environmental matters in more than 30 states! They have specialized expertise in infrastructure, including transportation and energy projects, water/wastewater, and pipelines. Clients range from manufacturers and companies in transportation/power, communications/media, insurance, oil, and hazardous materials/chemicals to real estate developers/lenders, municipalities, renewable energy developers/producers and other businesses, individuals and institutions. SGR represents in toxic tort and environmental clean-up litigation, enforcement actions, hazardous waste clean-ups, landfill issues, and environmental citizen suits. They regularly advise on environmental aspects of business and financial transactions, such as mergers/acquisitions and real estate transactions, with substantial experience in emerging renewable energy development. The group’s attorneys prepare and negotiate environmental language in agreements, coordinate and assist in environmental due diligence, and advise in permit acquisitions/transfers and regulatory compliance status of the selling entity.
