Simpson Grierson

About

Provided by Simpson Grierson

Our team provides expert legal advice, combining deep sector knowledge with practical, commercial solutions.

Claims and dispute resolution

We have extensive experience across all major policy lines, including liability, property, fire and general, health, life, travel, directors' and officers', warranty and indemnity, construction, and reinsurance. We advise on complex coverage and policy response issues and are regularly appointed as defence counsel to assist insurers and their customers in responding to claims, disputes and regulatory complaints. We also act for insureds on both contentious and non-contentious matters, making us a trusted adviser on all sides of the insurance relationship.

Commercial and regulatory

We advise insurers and insurance-related businesses throughout the business lifecycle. Our experience includes mergers and acquisitions, portfolio transfers, capital raisings, insolvency and regulatory compliance. We work closely with clients to develop governance frameworks, policies, controls, and risk and assurance programmes. We also support fintechs and overseas insurer sectors with jurisdictional and regulatory issues in New Zealand.

Risk management and advisory

We provide practical risk management and due diligence advice, helping clients identify, allocate and manage risk effectively. Our commercially focused guidance helps clients minimise exposure to disputes and meet their regulatory and compliance obligations.
