About

Provided by Shakespeare Martineau

We act for agents, landowners, and house builders on strategic land promotion, acquisitions, and disposals of land for residential development. This includes urban extensions, regeneration sites, complex multi ownership land assembly, mixed-use development opportunities and affordable housing. We also act for consortiums in the big ticket transactions.

We have particular expertise in strategic land, guiding clients through the process from early site due diligence, identifying development constraints through heads of terms to conditional sale contracts and long-term joint venture, option and promotion agreements for both residential and commercial developments. Our substantial plot sales team on a national basis deals with over 7,000 transactions per annum. Our commercial development team has a breadth of expertise working with a range of clients in the industrial distribution, office, retail, and leisure sectors.

The team deal with all aspects of the lifecycle from cradle to grave, including acquisitions, conditional purchases, forward funding, forward sales, pre-lettings and development management agreements.

We work closely with other teams, such as planning, agriculture, property litigation and construction – being holistic in our approach to pre-empting our clients’ potential needs
