Overview

Our energy and resource management team is particularly known in the market for its commercial approach and working collaboratively with clients and their teams to achieve key strategic objectives.

Our team comprises experts in resource management, energy and litigation.

We specialise in:

  • Resource consents and other approvals - in particular those for large-scale water/wastewater and transport (Port and Airport) infrastructure
  • Network utility operations
  • Commercial, retail, tertiary, retirement and residential development; and quarry / clean-fill projects
  • Environmental law reform
  • National and local authority planning and policy documents
  • Investment in energy projects - including oil and gas exploration and field development, downstream fuel marketing, hydro, solar, wind and geothermal electricity generation and electricity transmission and retailing

In the resource management space, planning processes are becoming subject to 'one-stop' processes before specifically constituted panels. We are currently advising a significant number of clients on the Auckland Unitary Plan process and the Christchurch District Plan Review, two major pieces of planning currently affecting New Zealand, and on the New Zealand Government's current proposals to reform the Resource Management Act 1991.
