The Firm is equally strong in handling public and private matters for debtors or creditors. It has developed highly specialized practice groups within its department, focused on areas such as construction, real state, agro-industry, banking and financial services, among others.
Furthermore, we currently represent Aenza in the insolvency proceeding of Gasoducto Sur Peruano, triggered by the Peruvian government’s termination of the concession contract for the southern gas pipeline construction. This is one of Peru’s most significant insolvency cases, involving substantial debt with the government as the main creditor. As president of the creditors' committee, Aenza leads negotiations to protect collective agreements and pursue debt recovery through international arbitration at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). This case is worth approximately USD 1.4 billion.
We assist Cumbra Perú in restructuring its debts with suppliers related to the Talara Refinery Modernization Project. This involves converting short-term debt into private commercial notes and negotiating payment plans with suppliers holding smaller balances. This strategic initiative addresses critical liquidity challenges by improving cash flow flexibility and extending repayment terms, thereby enhancing Cumbra Perú’s financial stability. This restructuring is worth approximately USD 6 million.
