Type of work handled

PBW Law represents the Scottish Police Federation (SPF) and their 18,000 members. The SPF is a representative body for rank and file officers in Scotland. They provide assistance to their members through use of their federation representatives. Should those officers require legal assistance, those members are referred to PBW Law. This includes defending police officers in criminal matters, representing them at Inquiries or assisting officers in civil litigation.

As a firm, PBW Law understands the unique needs of police officers and is acutely aware of the legal challenges faced by police officers in criminal courts and how these profusely differ from the needs of civilian clients. PBW Law routinely achieves successful outcomes for its clients in criminal courts.

The firm's work on behalf of the SPF involves representation of officers at Fatal Accident Inquiries where a death occurs in police custody. In recent years there has been an array of high-profile cases dealing with deaths in custody which have involved a wide variety of complex issues.

The team at PBW Law works closely with leading medical experts to examine a range of matters which have arisen in several high-profile cases and, accordingly, the firm has unrivalled and unique medico-legal expertise in these contentious areas which simply have not been explored elsewhere.
