McMillan’s International Trade group represents provincial, national, and multinational organizations in international trade tribunals. We continue to play an integral part in advising, national governments in drafting their anti-dumping, countervailing and safeguard policies as part of their application to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Geoffrey Kubrick and Dr. Neil Campbell of McMillan’s International Trade practice group have recently been appointed to NAFTA Chapter 19 (Trade Remedies) roster of panellists for terms of 10 years starting February 6, 2018. Dispute resolution panels under Chapter 19 of NAFTA provide an alternative to judicial review in domestic courts in respect of the decisions of the authorities that administer the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy laws in the NAFTA countries. Panelists are appointed on a case-by-case basis when a proceeding is initiated under Chapter 19.
We assist clients in developing a market-entry plan
that considers the inherent challenges of entering into a new market. These include confronting unfamiliar laws and regulations, treaties, customs, tariffs, language barriers and bureaucracy.
