McCann FitzGerald LLP's IP lawyers work closely with leading domestic and multinational clients to protect, exploit and enforce their IP rights. The focus of the team’s industry sector expertise includes life sciences (pharmaceuticals, bio-pharma, and medical devices), telecoms, IT, consumer goods and retail.

Many of our clients are multinationals who we represent in the Irish courts in complex, multi-jurisdictional patent litigation relating to leading pharma products. We also act in significant copyright, design rights and trademark disputes.

On the non-contentious side, we advise clients on the management of the whole range of their IP rights including their creation, protection, commercialisation, acquisition and disposal. This includes drafting and advice on licences, assignments, franchise agreements, naming rights agreements and sponsorship agreements. We also advise on trademark and other IP issues arising out of joint ventures, technology transfer and other commercial arrangements as well as assisting with a range of pharmaceutical regulatory inquiries from advertising to dealings with regulatory authorities.

We advise on IP issues arising out of information technology and online transactions generally, including software licensing and development in all its aspects, outsourcing and business transformation. We have also advised on the IP aspects of many of the largest and most innovative IT procurement and outsourcing contracts of recent times.
