Overview

  • The department acts for insolvency practitioners acting as administrators and liquidators as well as in relation to voluntary arrangements, bankruptcies, LPA and other receiverships;
  • Particular focus on trading administrations and insolvent business sales and purchases and insolvency strategies;
  • Advises banks and asset based lenders on discreet insolvency related issues; 
  • Advises others affected by insolvency including creditors, stakeholders, landlords, tenants, suppliers, contractors as well as directors of insolvent companies;
  • Particular focus this year, advising on a large scale administration arising from a creditor’s application to the Court for an administration order in connection with a failed property development scheme involving a large number of overseas buyers with complex technical issues arising;
  • Team also continue to act on restorations of dissolved companies to the Register of Companies; 
  • In addition to links to Real Estate, work linked to hospitality and leisure, marine, healthcare (including care homes) and charities sectors; 
  • Insolvency work drawing in expertise from other lawyers in the firm from the Dispute Resolution, Property Litigation, Corporate, Healthcare, Charities and Employment teams.
