Type of work handled: LEGATE handles the full legal lifecycle of energy projects, from pre-project analysis through implementation and subsequent project management, including resolving unexpected legal issues as they arise. Core work covers EPC contracts (LSTK or cost-plus-fee), construction contracts (DBOF, BOOT, OBE and occasionally FIDIC), plus related arbitration and regulatory compliance across oil & gas and power projects.
Categories of clients: We advise three of the 20 largest non-financial enterprises in Slovakia, all major energy players, alongside multinational Pan-European oil and gas companies and public entities. One leading Slovak refinery and petrochemicals group has been a client for more than 20 years. Energy clients account for approximately 25% of the firm's total revenue.
Recent work highlights: EUR 300m+ LDPE production unit construction; a EUR 50m ethylene storage facility (cost-plus-fee EPC); the EU-funded Polish-Slovak gas interconnector (EUR 100m+); gas sector unbundling under the EU Gas Directive; emission-allowance enforcement against the state under CJEU case law; underground gas storage capacity products.
Specialisations: Downstream oil & gas, greenfield/brownfield power projects, EU energy legislation and regulatory compliance, hydrogen as an alternative fuel and Virtual Power Purchase Agreements.
