About

Provided by Kirkland & Ellis

Our environmental litigation team has a noted specialty and particular focus on litigating matters relating to groundwater contamination. As can be seen from our work highlights below, we regularly defend major companies operating in the chemicals, manufacturing and downstream oil and gas industries, as well as major public entities, against lawsuits alleging groundwater contamination from their activities. Our work in this specialized field has seen us litigating highly complex matters of great significance in courts throughout the U.S.

The group’s transactional work is distinguishable from that of competitors by the depth and breadth of the support provided, extending not only to in-depth environmental due diligence, but broadly across the transaction to pre-deal counselling, environmental risk allocation and mitigation, analysis of the environmental regulatory environment, environmental insurance analysis and procurement, environmental disclosures in securities filings, restructuring support, crisis management and enforcement, and defense of indemnity and regulatory claims.
