Kennedy Van der Laan’s highly regarded IP team handles both contentious and non-contentious matters across the complete range of intellectual property rights, from trademarks, designs, copyrights and database rights to patents and trade secrets. In addition, we have a strong practice in advertising, collecting societies’ issues and sports marketing.

We assist numerous high-profile clients in fashion and sports in fighting counterfeits and handling IP conflicts with competitors. For our broad portfolio of innovative high-tech companies we draft and negotiate licenses and multi-party R&D cooperation agreements, and litigate on issues involving ownership of IP, trade secrets and patents.

Most of our IP work is for international clients or has an international dimension. We are  very familiar with translating the specifics of Dutch substantive and procedural law to clients from another legal system. Our team works in close cooperation with the competition law team as in many IP issues a deep understanding of competition law is needed.
