Katten's Charlotte office is home to 36 lawyers focused on real estate matters, with a special emphasis on real estate capital markets transactions. More than a third of the attorneys in the office are devoted to representing some of the nation's most sophisticated commercial real estate lenders and related parties—including banks, finance companies, insurance companies, loan servicers, pension funds and real estate funds—in connection with both traditional and nontraditional real estate financing.

The group has handled transactions related to all types of asset classes, including agricultural land, gaming, homebuilder, hotel and resort, industrial, infrastructure, multifamily, office, and retail, and has significant experience with loans intended for securitization. In addition to transactional lawyers, Katten's Charlotte team includes structured finance lawyers with extensive CMBS securitization experience, real estate litigators, trial lawyers and bankruptcy lawyers with substantial experience in the defense, prosecution and dispute resolution of real estate matters in courts and through alternative means.
