About

Provided by Jiménez Peña

The firm’s solid litigation practice handles commercial and civil disputes before Dominican courts of all jurisdictions, as well as specialized administrative, real estate, criminal, appellate and constitutional courts. We regularly counsel local and multinational companies operating in the country on collection actions, with notable involvement of late in complex foreclosure procedures as well as disputes involving distressed counterparties.

JP stand out for their representation of foreign clients in claims against local counterparties originating outside the country, especially in the United States.

The team has vast experience representing clients before the different agencies of the D. R., such as the Commission on Unfair Trade Practices and Safeguards, Dominican Telecommunications Institute, Consumer Protection Agency and Competition Commission.

We have a record in international arbitration in the country, regularly acting in cases before leading arbitration institutions, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, ICC International Court of Arbitration, and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law.

We’ve been involved in several major investment treaty arbitrations relating to energy, infrastructure, mining, and hospitality sectors, among others, representing both foreign investors and the Dominican State.

Jiménez Peña played a pivotal role in drafting and passing the country’s UNCITRAL based law on international commercial arbitration in 2008.
