About

Provided by Irwin Mitchell

We have a substantial national legal practice in human rights law and are regularly instructed to intervene in cases involving a policy challenge and judicial review.

The department is unique amongst claimant police law firms as it sits within a larger Public Law and Human Rights department in a national law firm, with teams in 9 city centre offices focusing on judicial review and human rights law. The team profits from its in-depth knowledge of human rights and administrative law, a desire to seek out policy challenges to produce benefits for the wider public, and a crucial understanding of the interaction between police forces, mental health services and social services. This is particularly attractive to disability charities when referring claims under the Equality Act. Additionally, we receive a significant number of referrals from INQUEST, Centre for Women’s Justice, other law firms, Avon and Bristol Law Centre as well as other smaller local charities such as StopWatch, One25 in Bristol and Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland.

As a national firm we are able to provide specialist advice to clients from our Central London, Holborn Circus office and all over the country at their local Irwin Mitchell office. We also now have a Cardiff office and therefore an offering in South Wales.
