About

Provided by Hogan Lovells Cadwalader

There have been various areas of recent growth in our TMT practice in Mexico and the matters and clients have increased considerably. This year we formally structured a new Digital Technologies Practice in order to help clients in a wide variety of cutting-edge legal issues such as cybersecurity, privacy, e-commerce, e-signature, cloud computing, data centers, fintech, IoT, AI, insurtech, healthtech, …

We have been assisting AWS in the process of establishing a cloud computing data center in Mexico and in the provision of cloud computing services to public clients. We have similarly been assisting Tencent in the analysis of providing cloud and cache content network services in Mexico.

Other new clients are: Kwai on privacy and regulatory consultations regarding the operation of the app in Mexico; tech start-up company Emi Labs on privacy issues; Coursera on tax, regulatory and privacy issues; Spotify on IP, privacy, content regulation, commercial and other similar issues; Mindgeek on content regulation issues.

Another significant grow derived from the publication of a new advertising law regulating media, agencies and advertisers. We have been working with Google, Amazon, Disney and other non-TMT clients in the implementation of the law in their advertising businesses. Our work with Google, Amazon and Disney has increased significantly in different matters along this year.
