About

Provided by Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer LLP

We represent significant parties throughout the capital structure, including key creditors (whether secured lenders, bondholders and official or ad hoc creditors’ committees) and companies (including their sponsors or boards of directors) in many of the largest and most complex bankruptcies and restructurings throughout the world. Our people lead transactions, investigations, negotiations and, when required, litigation to drive results, including harmonizing divergent interests.

We have led on suits in courts throughout the world. These include representing clients on matters involving multiple debtors with competing secured and unsecured creditors, complex restructurings, and contested inter-debtor and inter-creditor issues. We have always been at the forefront of developing case-defining strategies across the globe, including in historic Chapter 11 or out-of-court reorganizations and the development of the UK Part 26 schemes of arrangement and, more recently, Part 26A restructuring plans.

The team has deep experience in dealing with restructurings and insolvencies in a broad range of sectors, such as energy (including oil & gas and renewables), mining (and mining services), infrastructure (including aviation, rail, roads, PPPs and shipping), healthcare, real estate (including construction and projects), technology, media & communications, municipalities and retail. Our global practice has teams in offices in key financial and business centers around the world.
