About

Provided by Harper Macleod LLP

Our planning practice specialises in three main areas of focus: renewable energy, housing development, and regulators and planning authorities.

We are also involved in many of the large-scale planning related judicial reviews, as well as advising acquiring authorities and landowners on compulsory purchase orders.

We regularly work alongside major UK and international law firms with their clients. Working for both the private and public sectors, our roster of clients involved in planning law is unmatched by any other Scottish law firm.

Key clients include: NatureScot, Scottish Government, Cairngorms National Park Authority, Forestry and Land Scotland , Environmental Standards Scotland and many of Scotland’s 32 planning authorities.

These clients are key stakeholders in the Scottish planning system, and working for these clients provides us with a unique opportunity to be involved in the most important and highest quality contentious and noncontentious planning work in Scotland. The work often relates to high profile and controversial developments and regularly involves issues of national/ international importance and interest.
