Some of the nation’s largest insurers turn to our Insurance Coverage team for counsel on their most pressing legal issues. Our lawyers are at the forefront of Covid-19-related insurance issues about professional liability, medical malpractice and non-property general liability exposure. This work includes advising underwriters on policy formation and renewals addressing virus liability coverage and exclusions, and managing any federal and state litigation stemming from the pandemic. Individuals, municipalities and large classes of plaintiffs are suing over the national opioid crisis in state and federal courts, and insurers are navigating potentially billions in insured exposure as a result. Attorneys are guiding insurers through these complicated and fraught lawsuits, advising on applicable exclusions and provisions. Our work often provides clarity about policy exclusions and applicability, such as when bump-up coverages do or do not apply or when employer liability exclusions apply in wrongful death suits.
