Our Rolling Stock practice works seamlessly and collaboratively by integrating multidisciplinary teams of lawyers to advise on domestic and international rail and transit matters. Our rail and transit team works across offices and with a broad range of practice areas, including on all matters relating to the procurement, financing, leasing, operation, and maintenance of rolling stock.

Pioneering projects: regularly instructed on innovative and ’first of a kind’ projects, including current work on the inaugural fleets of purpose-built, hydrogen-powered passenger trains and associated hydrogen refuelling infrastructure.

Market entry: advice to new entrants into the rolling stock market, including on the development of innovative financing structures which streamline the financing costs and reducing the weighted average cost of capital to make investments viable.

Rolling stock arrangements: extensive experience of structuring, negotiation and implementation of new-build rolling stock arrangements, insight into how issues arising in previous projects can be avoided, and how to ensure any financed procurements are bankable.
