About

Provided by Gómez-Acebo & Pombo

During last year Gómez-Acebo & Pombo (GA_P) has continued to be a firm of choice for dispute resolution and arbitration work in Spain and in Portugal. Particularly in the public domain, GA_P is a key player in a large number of arbitration procedures, as well as a number of arbitrations.

There is still ongoing dispute resolution within arbitration regarding the specific project from the Portuguese Government called “Parque Escolar, EPE”, which is a corporation governed by public law with administrative and financial independence and its own assets.

Also, GA&P continues to participate in several insolvency proceedings to the detriment of legal enforcement actions due to the difficulties on repaying credits and debts.

Over the last years, “Ministério Público” (Public Prosecutor) has dedicated more attention to the Fraud and White Collar crimes. Having in mind the need to follow the growing trend of a “preventive criminal law”, GA&P's Criminal Litigation team has been developing a new area of practice. In the past months, GA&P Portugal has provided its clients with a new product: tailor-made compliance guides, designed for anticipating an eventual punishment for the crimes and administrative offences that our clients can more probably commit in their daily activities, always bearing in mind their scope of activity.
