Our Competition and EU Law team, formed by more than twenty professionals, including four partners (located in our offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Brussels and Lisbon), assists our clients in the design and implementation of the competition aspects associated with their business strategies. We advise in all areas of competition law, including the planning of regulatory processes in mergers and acquisitions, such as merger control, foreign direct investment (FDI) and foreign subsidies (FSR).

In relation to competition matters, we provide advice in the following areas:

• Merger control in Spain, Portugal, the European Union and in multijurisdictional cases, in coordination with foreign direct investment and foreign subsidies cases;
• Investigations by competition authorities, including assistance in dawn raids or surprise inspections;
• Litigation on the legality of competition authorities’ decisions before the Spanish, Portuguese or European courts;
• Compliance and training programs;
• Self-assessment and strategic advice;
• Private enforcement, including claims for damages and also arbitration in competition-related matters;
• State aid, including the examination of the compatibility of public measures with Article 107 TFEU, and assistance to national and/or regional authorities in notification procedures to the European Commission.
