About

Provided by Eversheds Sutherland

We are one of the few teams in the region which advises across the full project lifecycle in clean energy, from securing the development rights to project finance, to subsequent disposal/decommissioning.

We act for a significant number of developers and funders in respect of renewable energy projects and we have a deep understanding of regional solar and wind projects. Mandates include acting for the majority of bidders in both the Egypt Round II renewables program and the Jordan Round I renewables program, one of the landmark upstream deals in Abu Dhabi, strategic rail work in Qatar, Israel and Oman, ports transactions in Egypt and thermal power project work in Iraq, Oman, Qatar and Jordan.

In addition, we advise on major oil and gas projects in the region and are acting as global panel firm for a number of oil and gas companies. We also advise on social infrastructure projects, including on a ground-breaking PPP healthcare project in Kuwait, a Special Economic Zone in Qatar, and in developing Gaza’s economy through the installation of rooftop solar panels in an IFC sponsored project.

We have a team of over 100 lawyers in seven offices across five countries in the UAE (Abu Dhabi and Dubai), Jordan (Amman), Qatar (Doha), Saudi Arabia (Riyadh; Mohammed AlDhabaan & Partners in association with Eversheds Sutherland), and in the Kurdistan region of Iraq (Baghdad and Erbil). Our lawyers are qualified to practice in Middle Eastern jurisdictions, England and Wales, and the US.
