Agribusiness: Forestry

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP’s Forestry Law group advises and represents clients across Canada and abroad on nearly all issues affecting the forest sector. Particularly, they advise private sector clients on access to public forest resources. The group is comprised includes three professional foresters, a former in-house counsel for a major forest products company, and a former forester/lawyer with the Government of Alberta. DLA Piper's Canada advises major Canadian forest products companies on mergers and acquisitions and joint venture transactions, forest tenures, fibre supply contracts and various commercial matters, including agreements, fibre supply contracts and forest management agreements; acquisitions, dispositions, takeover bids and corporate restructuring; and joint ventures involving the forestry industry and other industrial operators. Our group is also well-versed in Forest Policy, specifically land use and forest practices; preparation of position papers on policy and legislation, and analysis of legislation, regulations and policy; professional ethics and standards of forestry practice; environmental and land claim matters; aboriginal land and resource claims; and environmental litigation.
