This department is most well-known for advising high-profile clients in the (i) banking and finance sector; (ii) private equity sector; (iii) mining and energy sector; (iv) natural resources sector (including green hydrogen); and (v) real estate and property sector. Although historically the majority of the services rendered relate to banking and finance, M&A, private equity and capital markets, securities and structured finance, leveraged finance and energy and infrastructure projects.
The department established itself as a trusted advisor to several commercial banks and private equity funds in Namibia. The department is also increasingly becoming more popular in renewable energy projects.
The department displays exceptional transactional legal skills, technical ability, takes a proactive attitude towards all transactions and is well versed in its clients’ respective businesses. In addition to the commercial experience, the members of the department have extensive litigation, real estate and government experience which assists in providing clients with both technical and practical advice on the implementation of transactions in Namibia.
As a result of its association with DLA Piper Africa, the commercial department of ESI, is used to acting as a member of a team of advisors advising on multi-jurisdictional matters.
