Davis Wright Tremaine’s energy practice group provides the complete range of regulatory, transactional, litigation and other dispute resolution services to entities that are actively participating in any aspect of energy markets in California, the District of Columbia, New York, the Pacific Northwest, and across the country.

We advise clients every day on cutting-edge commercial issues related to the transformation of the energy sector and various strategies to mitigate climate change. This past year we have advised on the development and sale of all manner of renewable technologies. We are also helping clients develop technologies intended to decrease the GHG impact of gas generation, including carbon capture and sequestration and hydrogen-fuel blending and conversion.

We advise on the creation and trading of renewable energy credits (RECs), California’s cap and trade program compliance, SEC disclosure requirements, state laws regarding GHG emission reductions, and strategies for marketing the output of GHG-free generating assets. Our clients include: independent power producers, investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities, community choice aggregators, oil pipelines, developers of transmission facilities, buyers and sellers of energy infrastructure projects, regional system operators, retail sellers of electricity and natural gas, large industrial energy consumers, and energy technology companies.
