In 1994, China Commercial Law Firm received the "Qualification Certificate for Law Firms Engaged in Securities Legal Business" issued by the Ministry of Justice and China Securities Regulatory Commission, becoming one of the first law firms in China with securities qualifications. In December 2000, China Commercial was one of the only fifty-nine law firms in China designated by the Ministry of Justice and China Securities Regulatory Commission to "engage in legal business related to overseas companies issuing stocks and listing overseas involving domestic equity" (i.e., red chip listing).
