Carey Olsen’s roots in Guernsey go back to 1898. Today we are the largest law firm in Guernsey, offering our clients the full range of corporate and finance, investment funds, dispute resolution and litigation, trust and private wealth as well as property legal advice.

We work alongside all of the major international law firms, accountancy firms and insolvency practitioners and our clients include global financial institutions, investment funds, private equity houses, multi-national corporations, sovereign wealth funds, high net worth individuals, family offices, directors, trustees and private clients.

For the year ending 30 June 2020, Carey Olsen provided legal advice to 869 Guernsey regulated investment funds, up from 798 a year previously, and is now more than 700 ahead of its nearest competitor (Monterey Insight, 2021).

Of those 869 funds, 742 were Guernsey domiciled schemes totalling US$272.7bn, which represents 82% of the entire Guernsey market by assets under management. The firm also assisted on the launch of 74 funds over the year - 67% of the total advised on by law firms in the island.

We are regularly instructed to advise on the most significant fund raisings to take place through Guernsey as a jurisdiction.
