Professional Discipline

Our Professional Discipline team has vast experience in dealing with complaints against the medical, dental and nursing professions. We represent professionals before their regulators, including interim orders and fitness to practise proceedings, in relation to misconduct, deficient professional performance, adverse physical or mental health and criminal convictions.

Team members appear regularly at the GMC and GDC and conduct their own advocacy before the Interim Orders Tribunal or Committee.

We represent:

• All types of healthcare professionals during NHS Counter Fraud Service Investigations, at Performers List and Dental List Suspension Hearings, during NHS Disciplinary Investigations, at Disciplinary Tribunals, in criminal proceedings and in investigations by the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman.
• Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
• Architects before the Architects Registration Board on instructions from professional indemnity insurers.
• Solicitors in disciplinary matters with the Law Society of Scotland.
• Nurses before the NMC
• Social care professions before the SSSC
• Teachers before the GTCS

Experience: advising on police interviews and reports to the Crown Procurator Fiscal, providing employment regulatory advice for registrants with criminal convictions: drink driving, fraud, assault and abuse.

Also appear on behalf of clinicians at Fatal Accident Inquiries throughout Scotland and in Public Inquiries in Scotland, Northern Ireland and UK wide.
