About

Provided by Borden Ladner Gervais LLP

BLG has one of the largest life science practices in Canada.

We advise entrepreneurs and those involved in the transfer of technology relevant to the commercialization of life sciences technologies. Many of our professionals have practices focusing on the commercialization of early stage technologies coming out of hospitals and universities as well as clients that range from large pharma to small biotech companies. We also advise medical device and drug manufacturers on issues related to regulatory compliance. Increasingly, we are representing entities involved in the commercialization of environmental and agricultural applications of the life sciences, including those involved in ag-biotech, bio-fuels, bio-products and cannabis.

Our multi-faceted IP practice is focused on both prosecution and protection. A significant number of our IP practitioners hold PhDs and/or Masters in the biological sciences, and advise on the protection of life science IP, including expertise in branding. The firm has a strong reputation for undertaking complex IP cases in a practical, timely, efficient and cost-effective manner. Our team specializes in pharmaceutical litigation, including proceedings brought pursuant to the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations.

Complementing these services are our lawyers in corporate finance (including public and venture financing), labour and employment, class action and civil litigation, real estate and government relations.
