Landmark Supreme Court Litigation

• Counsel to the Law Society of Ontario in Trinity Western University v. Law Society of Upper Canada, addressing freedom of religion and equality rights.
• Represented Loyola High School in Loyola High School v. Quebec (Attorney General), establishing important precedent on religious freedom and state neutrality.
• Counsel for the Attorney General of Canada as well as the Lord Reading Society in one of the most significant constitutional challenges in 25 years - contesting Quebec's Bill 21, which prohibits religious symbols for certain public employees. Supreme Court hearings are scheduled for March 2026. This case will provide the Court's definitive interpretation of section 33 of the Charter (the notwithstanding clause) and clarify the role of tribunals when the clause is invoked by legislatures.
• Represented the Canadian Civil Liberties Association in an intervention in Pepa v. Canada, arguing that statutory appeal rights must be interpreted consistent with rule of law principles and Charter values in administrative decision-making.
