Balch & Bingham has a well-established Intellectual Property practice grounded in practical experience and meaningful contributions to the development of IP law. Our attorneys have taken leadership roles in drafting pattern jury instructions for the ABA and the Eleventh Circuit, contributed to the passage of Alabama’s Right of Publicity Act, and have been appointed as Deputy Attorneys General for the State of Alabama on copyright, trademark and patent matters.

Our attorneys handle a full range of IP matters across traditional and emerging areas, including software, internet platforms, employment and privacy issues. We represent clients in patent litigation in U.S. District Courts, the Federal Circuit and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and advise during product development. Our trademark work includes infringement litigation, TTAB and UDRP proceedings, as well as portfolio management and prosecution, and we assist with copyright matters such as DMCA disputes and registration strategy. We also advise on trade secret and unfair competition issues and support transactional matters including licensing, assignments and IP considerations in mergers and acquisitions.
