Baker McKenzie launched the Restructuring & Insolvency Practice in Poland in 2020, after hiring Karol Czepukojć, attorney-at-law and licensed restructuring adviser. Karol Czepukojć heads the Practice and he is supported by a multi-disciplinary team of over 20 lawyers from the firm’s various practice areas in Poland. Karol Czepukojć became a member of Baker McKenzie’s Restructuring & Insolvency Steering Committee for Europe, the Middle East and Africa in 2021, which has positioned our Polish Practice even better in the global structure of the firm.
A 360-degree advisory approach. The Practice entirely focuses on restructuring and insolvency issues. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we are structured as a "one-stop-shop" practice, which allows us to advise on a broad range of aspects of restructuring and insolvency matters in Poland, including out-of-court workouts, court restructurings, bankruptcies, transactions on distressed assets (including loan-to-own strategies), debt recoveries and insolvency-related commercial contract issues.
Client focus. We advise and represent all key stakeholders involved in restructuring and insolvency processes in Poland: debtors, creditors, affected contractors / customers, parties to transactions on distressed assets, and insolvency-office-holders. However, our Practice is best known for acting for creditors and investors in distressed assets, including large financial institutions and private equity funds.
