Our Real Estate group is comprised of eight Japanese and foreign qualified lawyers who are part of the 160 plus lawyers in Baker McKenzie's Tokyo office.

 The group provides transactional and advisory services to the office's cross-border and domestic clients across a range of industry sectors including construction, health, hospitality, logistics, real estate development, investment and management, consumer goods and retail, renewable energy developments, telecommunications, media and technology (data centres).

 The group's work covers a broad range of other real estate matters which typically have a cross-border element. This includes inbound acquisitions of all types of real estate assets including office buildings, hotels, logistics facilities, nursing homes and residential buildings using market accepted tax-effective (TMK and TK-GK) structures and non-recourse bond and loan financing structures; disposal of real estate assets; sale and leasebacks; real estate portfolio restructuring and recapitalisation; commercial and retail leasing; and condominium, hotel and resort development and management projects.

 The group also advises J-REITs on refinancing work and trust banks on their real estate finance transactions.
