Baker Botts’ International Disputes Team is a multinational, multilingual group of lawyers with deep training in civil law, common law, and international law. The team represents clients before leading international arbitration institutions and ad hoc tribunals, advising at every stage of a dispute, from risk mitigation and pre‑dispute strategy to arbitration, litigation, and enforcement of judgments and arbitral awards.

The practice regularly counsels investors and sovereign states in investment disputes involving allegations such as expropriation, denial of fair and equitable treatment, and violations of national treatment or most‑favored‑nation obligations. These matters arise under bilateral and multilateral investment treaties, free trade agreements, and other international investment frameworks, and include proceedings before ICSID, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, and other arbitral bodies.
