What the team is known for

Ashurst is highlighted for its work handling complex international derivatives and structured product transactions, including OTC derivatives, dim sum bonds and repackagings. The team in Hong Kong is particularly active on this front, especially in relation to deals involving Japan. It is also well regarded in securitisation work, advising clients on a wide range of asset classes, and on bespoke structures, with the Australia team spearheading the practice. The firm maintains a notably deep bench of structured capital markets experts in China. Its prominent Australian ECM team works with the Hong Kong office on equity offerings throughout South-East Asia. The firm is known for prowess in representing Korean financial institutions, Chinese asset management groups and Australian blue-chip corporates.

Strengths

"Their many team members work well together, each bringing something to the table; they're very technical and diligent."

"They are able to deliver legal advice with good commercial awareness; they make efforts to deliver good products within the promised timeframe and are able to accommodate urgent requests. I have been entirely happy with their responsiveness."

Ashurst advised Judo Capital on its AUD2.3 billion IPO of new ordinary shares, as well as the establishment of its AMTN programme for the issuance of senior notes and subordinated notes qualifying as Tier 2 regulatory capital.

Ashurst advised China Shandong Hi-Speed Financial Group on the issue of notes in the principal amount of USD50 million, documented pursuant to a subscription agreement between Heritage (Jeju) Investments as the investor and Thriving Achieve as the company.
