Life Sciences

Our Life Sciences group has a proven track record advising clients on contentious and non-contentious matters in the life sciences and healthcare industry. Our team works on cases that continue to define the landscape for pharmaceutical patents in Belgium in particular.

Led by IP and Litigation Partner Christophe Ronse, the team represents several (multi)national pharmaceutical, medical and biotech companies on the legal issues they encounter during the various stages of their development. The team further includes Philippe de Jong, IP partner who has particular expertise in the protection of plant biotechnological inventions, Tom Vantroyen, partner at the Corporate department, William Timmermans, head of the Regulatory department, as well as several senior and junior associates.

Nagoya protocol-related work

ALTIUS has unmatched experience in cross-border Nagoya Protocol compliance matters, concerning the use of natural biological resources for R&D purposes. Philippe de Jong has advised numerous international clients such on this topic.

Agri-food

Our Agri-food law practice is also increasingly called upon for its niche expertise. This innovative practice, led by Philippe de Jong, has a proven track record advising clients in contentious and non-contentious matters in the green biotech industry as well as in the broader life sciences industry, both in respect of intellectual property and regulatory issues.
