Akerman represents leading domestic and foreign carriers, self-insured corporations, municipalities, and related entities in matters concerning insurance coverage, extra-contractual actions against insurers, class action disputes, investigations and litigation of complex fraud schemes, and bad faith litigation. The team serves serve as counsel and approved panel counsel for numerous insurance companies.

A large part of its practice involves litigation and consultation regarding disputes involving insurance coverage, class actions, and insurer bad faith disputes. The team spends substantial time consulting with insurers prior to the inception of litigation with regard to issues of bad faith and coverage, particularly where there is significant potential exposure to damages.
