Client Experience

• Successfully represented Africa Export Import Bank in garnishee proceedings seeking to attach monies belonging to the Government of South Sudan held in its accounts. The decision affirmed the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and regional court decisions under bilateral and multilateral treaties, domestic law, and the principles of comity, reciprocity, and res judicata.

• Acted for Equity Bank Uganda Limited and Equity Bank Kenya Limited in proceedings to recover USD 10 million from Simbamanyo Estates Limited. The matter was significant because it confirmed the legality of cross-border lending under Ugandan financial institutions law.
