In 2012 Abreu Advogados and C&C Advogados (both leading law firms in Portugal and Macau) entered into a partnership and cooperation agreement. As part of this partnership, Abreu Advogados and C&C Advogados have opened a Law Firm in Timor-Leste, which was named “Abreu e C&C Advogados – Timor-Leste, Lda.”. The Firm has a resident team of lawyers in Díli who provide legal services to national and international Clients with business interests in Timor-Leste, with a particular emphasis in the areas of Corporate; Banking and Finance; Energy and Oil; Natural Resources; Public and Administrative; Procurement, Immigration, Employment and Litigation. The firm operates under the name Abreu e C&C Advogados – Timor-Leste and is led by the Local Partner Elisa Pereira, Manuel Andrade Neves and Inês Sequeira Mendes from Abreu Advogados and Nuno Sardinha da Mata from C&C Advogados. The overriding purpose of Abreu e C&C Advogados Timor-Leste is to participate and contribute towards sustainable growth in Timor-Leste by providing services to its Clients with business interests in this country, whilst maintaining the high standard of technical quality they have become accustomed to.
Abreu Advogados’ experience in Portuguese-speaking international markets on matters regarding energy and natural resources, coupled with the strong historical ties between C&C Advogados and the Timor-Leste market, have proved to be the right “ingredients” for the success of the project.
