Media, technology and IP law firm Wiggin LLP today announced it’s promoting Patrick Rennie (Data Privacy) and Seth Roe (Employment) to the partnership, effective from 1st April. This follows a string of hires and an acquisition in 2020.
John Banister, CEO of Wiggin said: “Seth and Patrick are both technically excellent lawyers with a high level of commercial acumen and strategic awareness. They’ve won the trust of clients and colleagues alike and I’m delighted to welcome them both to the partnership.”
Rennie joined the firm as a newly qualified solicitor in 2010 and provides data protection advice to clients across Wiggin’s core sectors. He has spent a year of his time at Wiggin on secondment – predominantly at The Stars Group (part of Flutter) and a short secondment to Manchester United – giving him a genuine insight into the challenges faced by clients in Wiggin’s focus industries. Clients particularly value his “ability to apply data protection law in a commercial capacity to help a business find a practical, pragmatic and legally sound solution” describing his work as “above and beyond that of any of his peers in this field.”
Roe joined Wiggin’s employment team as an associate in 2012. He has over 10 years’ experience providing practical and effective solutions to HR teams as well as dealing with complicated employment disputes. Clients describe him as “invaluable to our business”, adding that “his knowledge of employment law is incredible and he is fast to respond with great practical advice and guidance.” His recent work includes advising many of Wiggin’s major studio clients on how to safely return to production during the Coronavirus pandemic.
In 2020, Wiggin bolstered its award-winning IP practice with the arrival of two lateral partner hires, Calum Smyth in London and Carina Gommers in Brussels. The firm also acquired specialist digital entertainment practice, Purewal & Partners, added a new telecoms practice led by Gordon Moir, and expanded its stong media litigation offering with the addition of Julian Darrall, former Deputy Head of Editorial Legal at Associated Newspapers.
