Vernon | David Law Firm announces, starting with 1 June 2020, the promotion of Roman Ivanov and Sergiu Bivol to Partner. Roman and Sergiu will join the law firm’s current partners’ team of Charles Vernon, Daniela David, Diana Neagu, Maria Nica and Corina Tiganas.
Sergiu Bivol joined the firm in 2008 and was the first attorney that Vernon David hired in the Republic of Moldova. Roman Ivanov joined the team in 2009 and was the second attorney hired. Together, they created the foundation of the law firm in Moldova and for over a decade have played an indispensable role in helping to build Vernon David into the leading international law firm that it is today.

Sergiu Bivol specializes in Commercial and Corporate Law, Litigation and International Arbitration as well as Real Estate transactions, with a special focus on M&A matters and complex commercial disputes, including representing companies against the Moldovan State. Over the last few years he has acted as a local team leader on numerous projects in a variety of industries, including telecom, media, television, sport, agriculture, seeds and crop protection, pharmaceuticals, steel production, banks and infrastructure. Sergiu is recognized in the Legal 500, Chambers & Partners and ILFR 1000 for his outstanding legal work.
Sergiu will continue to ensure the administrative management of the Moldovan office and coordinate its Corporate & Commercial, M&A and Dispute Resolution practices in Moldova.
Roman Ivanov specializes in Banking and Finance, Regulatory and IP/IT matters. Over the last few years he has worked for a variety of banks and financial institutions, including advising on several bank acquisition and expansion projects for Moldova’s leading international banking groups as well as on the acquisition of financial assets and credit portfolios. In addition, he has advised numerous lenders and borrowers with regard to financing matters, including significant work in commodities, trade finance and securitization (with deal values exceeding well over EUR 500 million). Roman’s work was recently recognized in the Legal 500 law directory, stating Roman is “very professional, responsible and dedicated to his work. We highly recommend him.”
Roman will continue to coordinate firm’s Banking & Finance, Regulatory and IP/IT practices in Moldova.
