MEXICO CITY, MEXICO, JULY 1st, 2022 – SMPS Legal is pleased to announce that Daniel Del Rio has joined the Firm as a Strategic Partner in the corporate M&A, banking and finance and compliance practice areas as of July 1st, 2022, with the purpose of internationally boosting SMPS Legal’s growth and services.
This strategic move represents a significant addition for the Firm after appointing two new tax partners, Luis Curiel and Francisco Carbajal, in May and October of 2021, who have been blossoming at SMPS Legal ever since.
Daniel Del Rio, who is one of the most recognized corporate M&A lawyers in Mexico, moves to SMPS Legal after being a partner of Basham, Ringe y Correa, and the head of its corporate and M&A practice area for over 30 years, assisting clients on big-ticket and cross-border transactions. His experience includes corporate, environmental, M&A, health, foreign investment, international transactions, real estate, banking and compliance. He is currently the Treasurer of the International Bar Association (“IBA”), as well as Secretary-Treasurer of the Legal Practice Division (“LPD”) and member of the Management Board of the IBA Council. Pro Bono work and philanthropy activities are the focal points of Daniel’s career as he has been an important promoter of the legal pro bono work in Mexico, advising different organizations.
