Sunny Kim, Senior Foreign Attorney / Head of the International Tax Practice:

    • Sunny’s key areas of focus are international tax and cross-border M&A with particular focus on structuring of transactions and optimization of effective tax rates.
    • A leading expert in the market with a wealth of experience and expertise earning her praise from her clients and industry recognition.
    • The Korean government regularly seeks her expertise on various topics. She assisted with adopting consolidated tax regime, partnership taxation and overhaul of reorganization-related taxes.
    • She has served as the Chair of the International Taxation Sub-Committee of Legislation Committee within the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and served as a member of the Mid- and Long-Term Tax Policy Committee. She is an advisor for BEPS.
    • With a Masters of Law from NYU, a M.B.A. from Yonsei University, and Ph.D. in Taxation from Seoul National University, as well as decades of experience in this field starting from her career at Deloitte in the U.S. and in Korea (including leading the Global Tax Group at Deloitte Korea), she is in an elite group of tax specialists who understand international tax.


    Ellen Go, AICPA:

    • Ellen joins Shin & Kim from Samil PwC, where she was an integral part of the tax consulting business with a particular focus on transfer pricing and tax examination related advice.
    • Ellen has provided tailored advice to clients across a range of industries, which will be invaluable for clients of Shin & Kim.
    • She is a graduate of the Leventhal School of Accounting at the University of Southern California.

    Michelle Kim, Foreign Attorney:

    • Michelle joins Shin & Kim, having worked at Deloitte Korea for five years.
    • Having the advantage of being educated in the U.S. and completing the JD equivalent at Handong International Law School, Michelle’s cross-border tax consulting experience and capabilities will be an integral part of Shin & Kim’s international tax team. 


    Sae Bom Baik, Korean Attorney:

    • A graduate of the prestigious Korea University School of Law, Sae Bom joins Shin & Kim having worked for four years in another top law firm’s tax practice.  
    • ​Sae Bom’s experience in Korean tax matters will complement other international tax team members’ expertise, and her knowledge of a diverse range of Korean tax matters will further strengthen Shin & Kim’s international tax team.
