Sayenko Kharenko has acted as legal advisor to Huhtamaki Foodservice Ukraine (the “Company”), a subsidiary of the world’s largest packaging manufacturer in the foodservice segment – Huhtamaki Oyj, in connection with the launch of production in Ukraine.
Sayenko Kharenko provided full-scope assistance to the Company in a planned industrial real estate transaction, which included conducting legal due diligence of several sites, drafting transaction documents, and carrying out negotiations with local counterparties.
Importing its own products to Ukraine from Poland, Germany, Finland and other European countries, Huhtamaki has been operating on the Ukrainian market since 2002. In 2017, the Company announced its intention to expand its presence in the Eastern European region by investing in production facilities in Ukraine.
Eric Le Lay, the Executive Vice President of Huhtamaki Foodservice Europe-Asia-Oceania, said: “Despite the ongoing political and economic turmoil, the Ukrainian food industry market is growing, and the country itself plays an important role in our expansion plans, aimed at meeting the demand of our key global consumers. Apart from that, Ukraine has an extensive transport infrastructure and its location is favorable for the export of products to neighboring countries.”
The Sayenko Kharenko team was lead by senior associate Tymur Enkhbaiar and associate Ilhar Hakhramanov with support from associate Mykola Lykhoglyad and junior associate Angelina Danileyko under the general supervision of partner Oleksandr Nikolaichyk.
