S&R has advised Carrefour on Indian legal and tax aspects of its new franchise with Apparel Group in India. This partnership keeps Carrefour well on-target to complete its strategic plan to expand into 10 new countries by 2026.
Apparel Group will exclusively open and operate Carrefour-branded food retail stores in India, starting with Delhi NCR and northern India, and aiming to rapidly grow the number of stores in India over the next three years and beyond.
The S&R team was led by partners Sandip Bhagat, Rajat Sethi and Raya Hazarika on corporate matters and partner Sumit Bansal on direct tax matters.
